Here at Princeton, where our competitive streaks run deep, job interviews are an art form, and application-only majors like Woody Woo (but no more!) have total cachet, it only makes sense that new artsy folks flock in droves to the school’s host of competitive student-run arts groups. From dance to drama to a cappella to musical theater, the Great Classes of 2015 and 2016 have been keeping arts groups busy with a huge number of new auditionees this season. *Some disclaimers: All arts groups, particularly a cappella, take on different amounts of new members each year due to many fluctuating factors (seniors who graduated, students who are studying abroad, vocal parts that aren’t being covered, etc.). These acceptance rates can vary widely from year to year. The statistics for PUP and Theatre Intime take all auditionees (freshmen through seniors) into account, though roughly 75% of their applicants were new freshmen; Triangle’s stats, by contrast, only include new students who auditioned and new club members who were accepted, as do those for dance and a cappella groups.
